'Introduction to Lean' Training Course - 1 Day - £200 + VAT per delegate

'Lean' Training Course - 2 Days - £400 + VAT per delegate

We deliver specialist bespoke lean training for all Public Sector Services at a location of your choice. We will talk to you before the training to understand your requirements and tailor the training for your individual service.

Define - We will train your service to define the service using tools such as:

  • Identifying the voice of the customer and determine what is Critical to Quality (CTQ) for the customer, what do they actually want and provide the evidence in a Kano Model.
  • Project objective - SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realsitic and Timetabled)
  • Map the "as is" business process identifying the customer journey.
  • Value stream map
    • We will run the training to map the business processes of the service being improved. The training will give all delegates a full appreciation for the inputs, outputs, controls, and value-added operations. We will provide you with end to end "as is" process maps and SIPOC diagrams identifying the full customer journey.

Measure - We will train delegates how to use tools to measure business processes.

We will identify appropriate process data from the training and test its reliability to identify variation and lean wastes. We will also apply appropriate measures of performance to your process linked to the Critical to Quality.

Some of the measurement tools we will use:

      • Parato analysis
      • Run charts
      • Control charts
      • SIPOC and process maps
      • Value stream mapping
      • Data reliability
      • 5S
      • Mistake proofing
      • Kaizen
      • 7 wastes
      • Kanban
      • Total quality
      • Problem solving
      • Team working
      • Demand analysis
        • Analyse - we will train the delegates the Analyse phase, how to identify potential root causes for the process problem being addressed and then confirm actual root causes with data.

We will use Lean Six Sigma analysis tools such as:

          • Cause and effect analysis
          • 5 Why analysis
          • Failure mode and effects analysis
          • Parato analysis
            • Improve - We will train the delegates the DMAIC Improve phase to identify a solution to the problem that the project aims to address. This involves brainstorming potential solutions, selection solutions to test and evaluating the results of the implemented solutions. We might recommend a pilot implementation is conducted prior to a full-scale rollout of improvements. We will look at potentially using technology to improve the process, including Case Management, EDRM, Workflow and Mobile technology solutions.

Tools we will use to improve the process are:

              • "Mistake Proofing" (Poke Yoke) Its purpose is to eliminate product defects by preventing, correcting, or drawing attention to human errors as they occur
              • Variation reduction - too much variation in the process leads to poor service and is very costly.
              • Applying lean tools to eliminate process waste
              • Identify and improve Takt Time
                • Control - The primary objective of the DMAIC control phase is to ensure that the gains obtained during the project, improve and are maintained long after the project has ended. To that end, it is necessary to standardise and document procedures, make sure all employees are trained and communicate the project’s results. In addition, we will train delegates on how to produce "to be" process maps, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and audit plans for ongoing monitoring of the process and for reacting to any problems that arise.
